VW builds retro Bulli with electric motor

VW has pre-buttoned the Type 2 T1. The retro Bulli “Type 20” combines electric motor, mini-battery and extreme optics. In addition: other classic conversions with electric drive!

Dhe VW Bus is cult, the original version Type 2 T1 is one of the most sought-after classics in automotive history. Now VW USA has breathed new life into the legendary popular figure – as a single piece “VW Type 20” with electric drive and spectacular optics. The show car is based on a 1962 T1 and should symbolize the past and future of the group at the same time. So does not work under the shell of the retro Bullis not a four-cylinder boxer, but an electric motor with 122 hp. Power supplies a mini-battery (ten kWh), in addition there is a 2500 watt strong charger on board. The look of the Type 20 can certainly be described as shrill: This starts with the white-brown metallic paint and stops at the rims in neon orange. Highlights include the technical features of the retro-Bullis: The chassis adapts to the handling, an automatic air suspension regulates the vehicle height. The windshield serves as a huge head-up display, which should provide the driver all the relevant information. Volkswagen introduced the Retro Bulli as concept vehicle for the opening of its new high-tech development center in Silicon Valley. A series production is not planned.

Ford Mustang with electric drive

Dark Bullet: The E-Mustang from Charge impresses with flash acceleration and evil optics.

A British start-up transformed the legendary Ford Mustang of the late 1960s (second generation) into a dark electric beast – with a drive that puts all previous models in the shade. Instead of the typical V8 engine several electric motors are used, which generate 408 hp and 1200 Nm of torque. In just 3.1 seconds, the E-Mustang sprint to 100th. The combination of several electric motors also allows different drive variants. At the touch of a button, the driver can choose between front, rear and four-wheel drive. For the right beast look Charge donated the Mustang a few bright day headlights, almost mystical-looking cross symbols on the radiator grille and rims (company logo) and a black complete paint job. Not quite suitable for the mighty appearance is the rather short range of the e-race horse, which emanates after 200 kilometers of juice. The so far unique E-Mustang is only the first of a small series of 499 vehicles. The purchase prices start at around 230,000 euros, first customer copies are to be delivered from autumn 2019.
